Is the 1 gb memory on a pci-ex graphics card considered part of the 4gb memory that i have installed on the MB? In other words, do I have 4gb usable memory on main board plus 1gb dedicated graphics memory on the radeon HD4350 graphics card I have installed on my Dell inspiron 530 desktop running XP Pro ?

No, you'd have a maximum of ~3.25 GB usable RAM on the motherboard as XP is 32 bit. And you may have even less usable RAM because of the video RAM (I'm not sure).

No. RAM on a discrete video card is not part of the CPU address space.

Didn't think it was. So you'd have around 3.25 GB of usable RAM.

There are many posts about it.

Usable: 4GB minus hardware reserved address space. A graphics card also takes up. How much depends on the card.

Edit: The title says XP, so I am guessing 32bit.

To gain full access to the 4GB of RAM you need to use a 64-bit operating system.
