Hi all,
Im having trouble with my new HDD. After I installed it, it prevented my PC from booting. Tried all possible configurations of sata connectors/cables. It does make a weird spinning up noise repeatedly. I cant see the drive in my bios but I DO see it when in boot mode. It doesnt say SATA SS:Insert model name here but it says PATA SS: What could possibly be wrong with it? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
Regards Geert
PS: Hope my english aint too bad

Hi Geert, & Welcome to Tom's Hardware

Is your secondary new HDD a SATA, or PATA (IDE) drive? Make and Model # is helpful.
If you can see it in the BIOS, it is recognized.

For simplicity, make sure your boot drive is connected to SATA_1, your DVD is on SATA_2 and this secondary drive connected to port SAGA_3.

Then in the BIOS, in addition to the Boot Priority, there will be a Boot Order choice. Click on it, and your HDD's will be listed there. Make sure the boot drive is checked to boot first, not this new one. Save and exit.

Give that a try.
