pretty much evrything shows the 860 being better, but 1156 does not have long for this realm and will soon pass on, but if you have a i7 860, it should be quite a while before you feel the need to upgrade

Hello and welcome to the forums
Both should give you roughly the same performance, the main difference is the socket they use.
X58 supports 6 core CPUs,has better OC'ng potential,supports SLI/CF at dual x16 mode(P55 supports it at dual x8 mode,however there isn't a huge difference between them);however P55 builds usually cost less.
