Fan needed in Processor Upgrade?

I have a compaq desktop PC with a The M2N68-LA (Ivy8) motherboard and an AMD Athlon LE-1640 processor. I have bought a •Athlon 64 X2 to repalce it. Do I need to get a new cooling fan as well or will the ASUS one on the motherboard be adequate?

depending on the specs of the cooler it may do .did the cpu you order not come with a cooler ?
you would be best of getting a better cooler as underload your cpu may throttle back and reduce performance
a cool chip will run much better

its a tdp issue, if both chips have the same tdp then the same cooler can be used , if not then a better cooler will be needed, if you dont know about tdp, then tell us what model he x2 is

sooo a smpron le 1640 45watt cooler will work on a x2 6400+ 125w cpu once there is some arctic silver 5 between the 2, waw, i learned something new today
