so I bought a inno3d geforce 8600gt (my geforce 8400gs broke) for £20 and today it arrived so im asking that there is a small 2 protruding pin connector

what is it for ? extra fan?, sli power?(i dont want to use SLI)

by the SLI connector it is (i hope i dont need to buy a new PSU for that connecor)

thats for sound... my 980GTX+ has it your supposded to have a wire in the box ur GPU came in u connect it to to ur GPU then from there connect it to ur motherboard to the 2 pin connector by the PCIe its suppost to "preserve" sound quality or some *** idk lol

lol no no ur good, dont worry i looked at it and i was like wtf is this? but i looked at my mobo and saw the connector. its common confusion. i replied to ur other post as well.
 

And if you use a DVI to HDMI adapter you should have video and sound on one cable! [:mousemonkey:3]

oh so i was right LMAO alright thank u for clarifying it up mouse i new it was for something with sound just wasn't 100% sure.
 

I've not tried it myself but it was the only way that the 8 and 9 series cards could do audio over HDMI IIRC, as ATi beat them to the punch by putting the audio decoder chip on the card with the 2xxx series and Nvidia have only just got there with the 40nm cards that have the same.

i have it... but my monitor is vga so i actually haven't realy tried it yet... but i saw the pins so was like w/e i might as well plug them up.
