Phone recommendations requested

Would you please provide a recommendation for a cell phone which synch's
with Microsoft Outlook contacts and calendar. I don't need the e-mail and
other features of a PDA phone. Thanks.

I second that...the Razr and V551 are both very good at this with the
Motorola Mobile Phone Tools software suite...i've used it quite a bit.

Of course, I'd recommend the V551 first...since the only difference
between the two is the Razr is thin....OOOOOOOH. also the razr doesn't
record video...just views it....v551 can.

All around, the V551 is a great phone, you will be pleased w/ it if you
get it.

I've had a V180 for about 6 months. I use a lot of the extra functions,
like the alarms. So, battery life is not as great. But, even with that, I
can still go at least three days between charges, even with close to the
5.8 hour talk time advertised. Where I work, I get Cingular blue outside
(my provider) and Cingular orange inside the building. Searching &
reconnecting takes battery power, each time.

The battery meter seems two change in increments of 2. A 6 is a full
charge, a 4 is still usable for quite awhile. A 2 seems to be a lot closer
to 0 than it is to a 4. :-) Since I usually want my phone fully
functional, I normally recharge at 4. When I go for a full drain to get
the recommended full capacity charge (not required often), I've had the
phone drop from 2 to 0 very quickly.

The V180 has great sound quality. And, having, moved to a location that
seems to be a a reception blackhole, I've been impressed with the V180's
capabilities. My room mate's Ericsson T610 would drop calls in our
backyard. My old Panasonic Duramax got signal upstairs in our 1st floor
plus basement apartment & outside. The V180 works on both floors (much
better upstairs) & outside. It never loses signal, but I'll lose audio if
I'm facing the wrong way. On a trip to Las Vegas, my V180 did slightly
better going into the desert than my buddy's T-Mobile phone & MUCH better
than another friend's Verizon phone.

Overall, I've been happy with the V180. I've looked at several others (the
Treo 650, the V551 & the Nokia 6230i) for some of the extra goodies. But
cost & battery life are still making the V180 a keeper. Now, if Panasonic
ever came out with a quad band GSM version of the Duramax, with a bigger
screen, I might be tempted. :-)

Thanks for the thorough response. Have you had any problems with the
v180 faceplate cracking? That seems to be the biggest complaint that
I've seen in the user reviews . . . but you never know how people are
handling the phone.

I've never dropped my V180, so I haven't seen any faceplate cracking. But
faceplate replacements are pretty cheap, so I don't think that's such a big
deal. But I do miss my Duramax. :-) I've dropped the Duramax on cement
with no damage other than a scuff mark or two to the rubber ruggedized
covering, which could be rubbed out. As I said in a previous post, if
Panasonic came out with a larger quad band, EDGE enabled GSM version of the
Duramax with the same battery life & exceptional reception, I'd buy it in a
heartbeat. It was the best TDMA phone I ever used. Unfortunately, I don't
think I'll ever see my wish come true. The tendency with GSM phone makers
seems to be "pretty" phones or an addiction to "featuritis". And I tend
toward phones that do what I need, have good reception & audio, look good
but aren't fancy, are rugged, etc.
