Can anyone tell me whether or not the G.Skill ripjaw x series memory (4gb or 8gb, either or) will fit with an MSI 890fxa-gd65 motherboard? I've heard both ways but am not entirely sure. I probably won't overclock (not sure how to, and if I do need to it wont be more than 1600), so that is not really a consideration. Thanks ahead of time for the help!

Hi and welcome to Tom's forum.

Easy answer?: Yeah, those fit in the mobo.
Large answer?: Yeah, fit in the mobo but if those aren't in the QVL the MSI support can't help you in running at rated speeds or related problems between mobo and RAM.

cool, thanks saint. leading from that question then, what is a good mobo that has similar features to the MSI one? I need something with at least dual x8 in order to run crossfire later on. I've had good experiences with asus in the past, but my current laptop is an asus and I've had problems with it from the beginning.

Since I don't really understand north bridge/south bridge chipsets, is there a noticeable difference between ASUS M4A79XTD EVO AM3 AMD 790X and the ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 AM3 AMD 880G outside of the integrated video card? (which by the way I would need to turn off... no need to use it)

Overclock without on board video is better and the 88TD is more new that 79XTD mobo, some notable performance difference in overclock and CPU support list.
