Dual or single core cpu?

I’m confused. I just bought my daughter a new laptop, a Compaq Presario CQ62. When bought, it said that it had a dual core processor. In fact Core Temp says the model is a dual core AMD Turion II M5120 (Caspian), but despite this it only reads one core with one thread? Cpuz reads the cpu as a Sempron II M110 different name and still only one core.
Is there a fault with the cpu only running one core or is there some technical reason for this? Any advice much appreciated.

More about : dual single core cpu

there are a few different processor choices for that model #. Is there any more to the model # after the CQ62?
