Plus this is 70% for my dad so do you think he would appreciate it? Because he'll be doing a lot of work on it so I dont want him to wast $1000 on some shitty sony and have it screw over. We are going to salvage usable parts from the shitty sony that we had like Blu ray drive writting drive etc...

Reasonable?

Please give all advice!
July 26, 2010 10:01:38 AM

WHY DO I ALWAYS Get 0 answers!
July 26, 2010 10:04:39 AM

I recommend another 500GB speedy drive for the OS.

Like a samsung spinpoint F3 500GB. They cost like 59.99

Placing your OS on a 1.5TB drive, especially a caviar green for 1 defeats the green aspect as it isn't alowed to go "dormant"

Also without your monitor size/resolution it's hard to say if the 5770 will be adequate.

And for the 0 answers complaint, its 3 AM, what did you expect?

oh well i m in vacation half way across the world! LOL i keep thinking its 3 pm cuz it sorta is
July 26, 2010 10:09:26 AM

um so screw the 1.5tb? and get two 500gb?
July 26, 2010 10:10:25 AM

Oh and again this pc is for my dad hes not going to be running it at max resolution all the time. I will...
July 26, 2010 10:12:48 AM

Depends. I for one enjoy having a 1.5TB media drive for my music and DVDs.

I'd look at a 500GB OS/program drive, and a 1-1.5TB media Drive.

But once again, whats the monitor resolution, and what games do you intend to play?
July 26, 2010 10:31:34 AM

First of all if I DO get to use it world of warcraft, crysis, TES4, ABP
July 26, 2010 10:33:04 AM

and the screen resolution like 1440x1026 sumtin like that dont quote me on it.
And will it be good for my dads work? Just emailing some xml powerpoints?
July 26, 2010 10:34:01 AM

Well salvage the HDD from his sony for the os so yea
July 26, 2010 10:35:47 AM

WoW it will do fine, Crysis meh, the other ones I don't recognize the acronym. Yes it will be fine for any work your dad my want to do.

July 26, 2010 10:39:07 AM

Good call, I dont really see anything to improve upon considering the intent of the build. Enjoy.
July 26, 2010 10:41:20 AM

OH one final question will that atx case fit my mobo?
July 26, 2010 10:42:07 AM

PS
TES4 the elder scrolls 4 (oblivion)
ABP All points bulletin
July 26, 2010 10:49:23 AM

HD5830

Get the GTX 460, its more powerful but a little cheaper than the 5830.
(I kno i always post to get the GTX 460, but I am not a NVIDIA fanboy, I have a 5870, Actually, i am more of a ATI fanboy...)

Besides my rambling, The GTX 460 is a better bang for your buck card
July 26, 2010 11:16:41 AM

Dude its 768mb?
July 26, 2010 11:24:03 AM

dbq12 plz helpzme!
July 26, 2010 11:25:09 AM

Yes and no

There are two versions, the 1 gb (which is the better version) and 768mb versin of the card. Both are really good, and the 786 mb is on par/ba little better than the 5830, but the 1 gb is the way to go.

July 26, 2010 12:04:32 PM

that Psu might ( i am not sure) not power everything
July 26, 2010 12:09:55 PM

I'd recommend the OCZ ModXstream 700W. It's inexpensive, modular and quite good. Also I owned the ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 92mm Fluid Dynamic CPU Cooler
and it was complete garbage. I can't say enough bad things about it.
July 26, 2010 12:13:38 PM

Yeah thats the one, thanks dbq12, also if you arent going to overclock you won't even need an aftermarket HSF.
July 26, 2010 12:18:34 PM

and where are you buying the parts.... because i see you have taxes on there and newegg doesn't have taxes (unless u live in California)
July 26, 2010 1:44:12 PM

i live in new jersey so there are taces
July 26, 2010 1:46:27 PM

oh that sucks.

but get the psu cmcghee358 is recommending

July 26, 2010 1:49:49 PM

wats an hsf?
July 26, 2010 1:55:36 PM

hsf = heat sink fan
July 26, 2010 1:56:37 PM

with the 600W that you posted will that power my whole setup and im guessing a hsf is a cpu cooler?
July 26, 2010 1:59:40 PM

kk so not ocing since it is my dads pc is the case two gaudy for a 47 year old man?
July 26, 2010 2:00:29 PM

alos im not familiar with heatsinks and fans sry, i just use stock, but i suggest u should too, unless you overclocking it. But I am OCing my psu from 2.8 to 3.4 on stock heatsink+fan
July 26, 2010 2:05:23 PM

so the 600w can power my system?
July 26, 2010 2:05:42 PM

and it should power your system
!
