im using windows 7 as a host and windows 8 pro as a virtual machine with vmware workstation 9 just to try windows 8 out and my mSATA drive is a boot drive

..Its a little hard to answer without all the variables but your OS takes about 15-19 GBs..120GB should do the job..but a 256GB will give you room to grow....a 64GB will make u frustrated...

Considering boot drives continue to grow [in space used] constantly, albeit at a slow pace, it would be best to future-proof yourself and get the 256Gb, though 128 would do it....for now.

A 64GB drive would do the job right now as a purely boot drive for two modern Windows systems and for quite some time, but it wouldn't be able to keep up with 128GB models and wouldn't be able to store much other than the operating systems. 128GB or 256GB would have much more room for other things.

I would go with at least 120 GB+.
With some pagefile data your 64 GB drive would be full pretty soon. If you install some additional Apps you need more space soon.

You're not supposed to put a paging file on an SSD...
