I want to connect a VAIO PCG-FX210 to a desktop, both are running Windows XP Pro and have 1394 adapter.
How can I set the network with the 1394 adapter?
I would appreciate your help!

Isn't 1394 adapter Firewire ?

Better to use the ethernet network adapters and a crossover cable.

Check Windows, Control Panel, System, Hadware, Device Manager to make sure drivers have been installed for Network adapters.

Thank you so much for your reply. I installed the crossover cable and ran the network set up. So I think now that I can't do what I want. I see the laptop in the wired network the same way I see it in the wireless network that I have. But I thought that connecting the two computers via a cable (1394 adapter or cross over cable) that I could see both computers the same way I see different externarl hard drives connected to the computer via USB port. The idea is that I want to make a backup of the laptop from the desktop using DriveClone ant this software does not see drives in the network.
Thanks!
