Hello Everyone.

I am new to the forums and there seems to be tons of knowledge on here so I thought I'd try to get some help here.

As of now, I am trying to find out which format should my DVD/BD rips should be in. I have tons of movies that are stored on my HDD some are .mkv and some are .mp4 I would just like them to be all the same.

What I want to do is be able to play and stream them on my TV, Computer, and my Android devices. Also, I would like to know what you guys use to play whatever file format you recommend. I would probably need some sort of DLNA client or some media server type application.

Right now, I do not have a media server, but in the near future I am planning on setting one up. I have asked this same question many times and I get many different answers. Just thought I would ask your opinion.

I personally ALWAYS rip my blu-rays into .mkv format, i've found it to be MUCH smaller in file size when set to the same quality as other formats.
