Hi there,

I'm looking into buying new RAM for my Asus G73JH. These are the sticks I'm looking at: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingston-1600Mz-NonECC-SODIMM-Memory/dp/tech-data/B0047A7B60/ref=de_a_smtd

However, I don't really understand XMP at all. I am not interested in OCing my RAM, if I literally just plug it in and leave it at default settings (running at 1.5V, I guess?) will it have a speed of 1600MHz and what would be the latency? Am I right in thinking that the higher I set the voltage, the *lower* the latency timings get? I think there's an option to enable/disable XMP in BIOS if I've read things correctly, so I guess I'm asking what happens if that's off, and if it runs slower than 1600MHz like that how would I get it up to full speed?

The Crucial scanner is rubbish.

Case in point, this is what it says for my system:

Total Memory Slots: 2
Available Memory Slots: -1

[Then shows a picture of me having 3x2GB RAM sticks]

I'm after a person's know how, not what that scanner thinks.

Well mine definitely has 4. My question was about the RAM I'm buying, rather than my system itself.

I realise this should probably go in the "Memory" section rather than "Asus", but it's a bit late now. If a mod reads this could you move it, please.
