Motherboard/fan???

toshiba L500. Maybe a couple years old.

Replaced the motherboard and actually got it working. I notice the fan spins up for a couple seconds when the laptop powers on. Then it stops, but the computer continues to boot up. Should the fan do this? Should it cut in and out? Or should it be on all the time?

In my experience the fans in notebooks almost always "twitch" when then are powered on, and then dont spin until the system needs to be actively cooled.
