Memory question - 2 X 4 or 4 X 2 is there a difference?

I was looking at memory DDR3 and found this :

Is there a difference in these two as far as getting a stick with 4 gigs or getting 2 sticks that equal 4 gigs?

It's better to have fewer sticks. Performance won't be different, but overclocking is easier with less RAM slots used. Also, having the 2x4GB kit leaves two slots open for upgrades later on most dual-channel mainboards.

So is there a max ram I should be thinking about? I am going to be using it for Video editing HD and After effect material. I don't want to get too much, but would like to get it while the prices are great.

8GB is enough for most people, but you could get two sets of that Sniper RAM for a total of 16GB.

I have 12GB (one 2x4GB kit and one 2x2GB kit) in my Sandy Bridge system. I wish that Sniper RAM had been available when I made my purchase...
