Hey guys.

i hav a macbook pro 15" late 2011 and wanted to upgrade the hard drive before i go on holiday to store more videos on it. I hav a 750 gb in it at the moment, an i recon i need bout 1.5tb to store it all!
the problem comes wen i look for the right hard drive, as some threads say i need one thinner than 12mm and others say bigger....
can someone give me a link or somthing to a 1.5tb to 2tb hard drive that will fit in my mac?

many thanks in advance!!! :bounce:

You'll need a 9.5mm 2.5" laptop drive for a 15" Macbook Pro. 12.5mm and 15mm drives are too tall.

I believe 9.5mm drives currently top out at 1TB. Your best bet would be to install a second 9.5mm hard drive in the space occupied by your optical drive if you want a big boost to your storage:

Since you're going to have to do it eventually anyway, why not just pop the bottom cover off and take a look at the drive yourself? A PH00 screwdriver is all you should need. It's been a while since I stopped doing Apple repair work (thankfully... Apple's NOT a nice company to have to deal with on the business side of things) but I don't recall them being anything other than your pretty bog standard 2.5" SATA drives. I had a stack of them on my workbench, from various model years, for various diagnostic purposes, and they were all the same size.
