Dear experts,
I'm having Compaq Presario B1015. It has P4 3.2 GHz and RealTalk audio HW.
There is a hissing noise always from speakers. If I increase the volume (not
playing any audio)
the hissing noise is very audible and it is annoying.

Is there something wrong with the audio HW ???

Did any one had such problem...

Regards
Kumaran

Perhaps you need to mute your microphone. Sounds like feedback.

or it could be a snake in the speakers, LOL. Had to say it.

is the hissing noise also there when running on akku power?
if yes:

if you have your notebook grounded via the ac-outlet disconnect the
ground and try again.

as disconnecting ground may be dangerous be advised to either know
exactly what you are doing or ask someone to do it who is.

NEVER disconnect a ground. That could lead to a damaged system, or (worse
yet) a dangerous electrical shock.

i would try to disable the audio-device in the BIOS.
if the problem still occurs then it's not the Audio-Hardware but something
that is interferencing with the speakers.

You can also try to disable the IR port. No joke! Windows is scanning the
IR port to see if other devices are in range... and i don't know exactly
why, but this can cause some "hissing" noise too.

Dear experts,
Unless the speakers are muted it makes annoying hiss.
As Boris suggested, I guess there is some kind of interference.
I thing, I should give it report to customer service.
I thank you all for your suggestions.

i have disconnected ground for over 2 years now and never felt anything
like that.
and furthermore, the dc connector only carries 2 wires, so its not
really grounded either.
i just have the ac-output connected to phase and zero (nullleiter, dont
know the english term), disconnected ground and it works perfectly fine,
also the hissing is completely gone.

Nevertheless, a dangerous practice.
