Athlon 64 X2 6000 to Athlon II X4 635 upgrade

Hello, is this worth the upgrade? My mobo can support the Athlon II x4 and Phenom II x4 w/bios update. This is my gaming pc.

From http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/27?vs=97 there doesn't seem to be a big difference in game performance.

Yes. That upgrade will make a considerable difference, esp. if you run things that can benefit from the extra cores (ie. encoding,etc). Games that are not CPU bound will not benefit. However, games that are CPU bound (ie GTAIV, FSX,etc) will benefit from the X4.

In any case, this is a pretty noticeable upgrade. Btw, in your link you are going X2 vs Athlon II X2 which only makes a little difference.

Thanks. Guess I copied the wrong link . I am also looking at the Phenom II X4 945. But it's more expensive. I just want get a boost but not pay so much right now.

look for a sale but either one is a considerable upgrade.
