Hi, I seem to be having issues with my hard drive...
this is what I have: http://www.testberichte.org/Computer/festplatten/hitachi-deskstar-t7k500-320gb-ide-7200rpm-1473008.html

It says it can go 133mb/s but im only getting around 50-60mb/s through the benchmark tool HD_Speed. Its plugged into the 6gb/s SATA ports on my Motherboard.

This is my spec:
MB: Intel Extreme Series DX79TO, X79
CPU: Intel i7-3820 @ 3.60GHz
RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance Series DDR3-1866, CL9
HDD: 320GB HITACHI Deskstar T7K500 (HDT725032VLA360)

Any ideas?

make sure it the intel 6g port. make sure the port set to achi mode. also make sure you have the newest intel chipset drivers installed. also try another hd software like hd tune to make sure it a valid run and not a software issue. looks like the software is right it the drive.

Hard Disk Drive Specification - Deskstar T7K500:

133 MB/s represents the speed of the ATA interface. You will only achieve this speed when transferring data into and out of cache memory. The transfer rate to and from the platters is much less.

According to the product manual, the HDT725032VLA360 has 4 heads and a capacity of 320GB. This means that its data density is 160GB per platter. A drive with 500GB per platter typically has a maximum sustained data transfer rate of 126 MB/s.

The expected maximum transfer rate for your model is therefore ...

sqrt(160 / 500) x 126 = 71 MB/s

The minimum rate would be about half that, ie 35 MB/s, and the average would be about 53 MB/s.
