I'm planning to build a new rig after years of living off a core 2 duo. My question is what advantages are there to get a z68 mobo if you are going to run 2 SSDs in raid 0. Isn't that set up alot faster than the SSD caching offered by a z68? p67 pricing seems more competitive as well. thanks

Welcome to the forum. SRT is an additional feature of Z68, meaning it also supports configuring the SSD as a separate drive letter. The other main advantage to Z68 is IGP support which lets you take advantage of Quick Sync if used alone or through Virtu if used with a discrete card. And yes striped SSDs will outperform a caching drive setup, although they will cost substantially more.
