Awhile back i was inquiring about a video card. Im running two 8800 gt 512 in sli. I wanted to buy a 260 ot 275 at one time but everyone told me to wait till the 400's come out. Now they are out and they are telling me to wait till the 480 card goes down in price cause the 465 is no good.. Yeeeesh... Is the 465 better than my 2 8800 gt in sli? I cant really afford a 480 card anyhow and the 249 price of the 465 is looking more up my alley. Thing is I dont want to buy something that is the same or less than what I got. I play AGE OF CONAN. online

need some help here. just seems to be a waiting cycle and next thing you know ill have my 8800 x 2 gt 512 in sli waiting for the new GTX 5000 cards to come out LOL

The GTX 465 is about as strong as the 5830 which is taking over the role of the 4890 which was equal to the GTX 275. A 5850 or GTX 470 is probably the lowest single card you can get that will be a reasonable step up.

465 can be unlocked to a 470 minus the extra memory

you should never buy a lower card and expect to unlock, if you want a certain level of performance buy that, if you can unlock great, but you shouldn't bank on it

personally i'd get a 470, the 465 is really kinda of a disappointment, if you want more in the 465 price range i would really just save 20-30 bucks and go with a 5830

if your wanting to spend money at around the 465 price point you would be better serviced by a 5850 it's honestly the best card for the money, with the 470 coming in second in terms of price to performance at the high end
