How much memory is enough for gaming?

It's my first time building my own computer and I was wondering how much RAM should I need? I plan to play games like Call of Duty: Black Ops and Battlefield 3. I found this of from microcenter.com. http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0355881 I really only play one game at a time. So how much will I need?

I recommend 6GB (3x2GB) minimum for a triple-channel system, and 8GB (2x4GB) minimum for a dual-channel system.

With 8Gb only a few bucks more than 4GB, 8 would be my recommendation on all but the lowest budget systems. Though you will need to do some tweaking for it to mean anything.
