Hi guys,

This will be my second build. My first build was done way back in 2003. I should have kept track of what is going on, seems a lot of things have changed but the fundamentals remain the same luckily.

It's just now there are SO MANY choices which is confusing.

I'd greatly appreciate if someone can analyze my choices below and let me know where I have gone wrong if anything. I'm going to use this computer for graphic design and video editing. No gaming but I'd guess I would need similar performance.

I'm interested in the Intel i7 processor (I chose the latest version I guess below, there are like a dozen).

The absolute maximum I can pay for this build is $1500, but I'm hoping to near $1000.

Anyway, below are the components...

Case: Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Processor: Intel Core i7-930 Bloomfield 2.8GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Desktop Processor

Motherboard: ASUS P6T LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard

Power: CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7

RAM: OCZ Reaper Edition 12GB (3 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Low Voltage Desktop Memory Model

Video: EVGA 01G-P3-N959-TR GeForce 9500 GT 1GB 128-bit DDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Hard Drive: 2 X Western Digital Caviar Blue WD5000AAKS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive (I want to setup RAID0)

Disc Drive: LITE-ON Black 12X Blu-ray Burner with Blu-ray 3D feature SATA Model iHBS112 - OEM

I put these on Newegg and it comes out to $1,335.51 after tax and rebates. I'm sure I can find better deals elsewhere but here's an idea.

Appreciate any feedback, thanks!

For all/any non gaming rig i would seriously consider the Thuban X6 1055T, an after market cooler and an 880G/SB850 mobo with all the goodies like USB 3.0 via NEC controler (no chipset currently has native solution) and native SATA 6GB/s If $$ no object then of course the Gulftown hehe Apps/software no advantage via GPU acceleration then HD 4250 integrated ftw else could be a professional class GPU would net ya the biggest gains ^^

Example config @ $703AR
