New SSD System, L4 tweak/assembly/settings tips, total newb here

Here's my new rig (Windows 7, 64-bit):

CPU: i3-2100 @ 3.10ghz
MOBO: ASRock H77M Micro ATX
RAM: G.SKILL Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
GRAPHICS: XFX Radeon HD 7850 1GB
HDD: WD Caviar Blue 500GB 7200RPM
SSD: Kingston HyperX 3K 120 GB SATA III
Case: NZXT Source 210 Elite
OPTICAL: Lite-On iHAS124-04

Anyway, I heard something about RAID 0 caching set up, can my system support this?

I'm looking for the best way to set this up to take full advantage of the technology/speed in SSD.

Also, on top of the 500GB internal listed here, I also have a 1.5TB external hard drive just sitting around somewhere.

  1. With win7 there is nothing to worry about! Switch to AHCI mode in bios and install windows. It will do everything automatically.
  2. Do I install windows 7 on the SSD before I even attach the hard drive?
  3. Yes! Otherwise there is a risk that windows installs the boot manager on the HDD. That happens if the HDD is the first disk recognized by the bios. After installation, attach the HDD, goto disk management, create a partition and format it.
  4. i only have 120gb on the ssd .. what type of programs should I install on it and what type of stuff should i keep on the hdd?
  5. What program do you use? I have only a 60GB SSD and win7, M$ Office and all the other stuff on it. :)
Just make sure, you move your "my documents" folder to the HDD: right click on it in explorer, goto properties and the path tab.
