Opinions will vary, but I would go with the WD Black 1Tb over any other drive at that price point. In recent years they have just had better drives, which is reflected in the 5 year warranty where Seagate gives 2 years.

If you want to save a few bucks and this is not an OS, just storage drive, I would also consider the WD Blue (which like the Seagate has only a two year warranty): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236339

Get whichever drive you can get a better deal on. I've use a *huge* number of both manufacturers drives and I've never had any fail as a result of a defect (dropped on but that doesn't count).

Best depends on your point of view. What are looking for? Speed, low power consumption, noise? Figure what your priorities are and then you'll know which drive you want.
