Northbridge and southbridge

What type of north and south bridge would be recomended for a gaming pc buil

Hi,

I use the X58 (north) with the ICH10 (south) for core i7 platforms.
And if you're watching your budget you can go for the P45 northbridges, but they use still Core 2 Duo CPUs.

I don't think anyone refers to northbridge and southbridge anymore as very few variants exists and combination are pretty much dictated by the the chipset manufacturers. For a gaming PC I would therefore recommend either an AMD build (AM3 socket, but chipset mostly depends on features you want) for budget or a Sandy Bridge (Intel) one for performance using either P67 or Z68 chipset.
