About to purchase and leave Mac land (kind of).

USE: Work (Some Photoshop and inDesign and programming), Gaming (Civ, StarCraft, WoW) and general use.

Ordering from: NewEgg.com

Don't need: OS (getting Win 7 64-bit tomorrow)

Requirements: Has to be quad-core and run smooth. Card needs 2 DVI outs.

My Cart:

HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 500gb

MoBo: Gigabyte GA-890A-UD3

Ram: G.Skill Rpjaws 4gb DDR3 1333

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2 GHz

PSU: Antec EathWatts EA650 650W

Case: Antec Three Hundred Illusion Black Steel ATX Mid Tower

Still need: optic drive----wanted to see if the drive from a Mac G5 would work. If not, I'll add one for $20.

Total Shipped: $683 (and $25 back in mail-in rebates one day)

Any bottlenecks or bad moves here?

Forgot to mention that my max resolution is 1680 x 1050 (2 monitors). I don't plan on doing 2 graphics cards right now and would be willing to do some upgrading if that changed.

Those are some good combos. For that resolution, a HD5770 should be enough; a HD4850 will be $60 less, but might come up weak within a year or so if you plan to add more demanding games.

Whoops. Forgot to list the graphics card.

It's the gigabyte Radeon HD 5770 1 gig OC card for like $149.

Excited to build this next week. If you see smoke in the distance, that's my house. :)

LOL, wow.

In true "hahah sucker you must wait" fashion, NewEgg has shipped just about everything with expected delivery of tomorrow EXCEPT my graphics card, which is due on Tuesday.

If the UPS guy does come, I'll be so tempted to hit Frys and buy the card for a few bucks more and return the other one. :)

Wish it was just the HDD or power supply.

Patience . . .

Plenty of time to do some modding on the case until Tuesday.

Yeah. I think I'll order a blu-ray player for it while I wait. The LITEON one is $65, which isn't much more than the optical drive I was going to pick up at Frys (forgot to add it to my NewEgg order).
