Need advice on GPU

I am currently doing my research for a GPU for my new PC. This is my first custom build, however I have been doing alot of research and am somewhat knowledgeable. I will most likely be purchasing the card sometime this month. I would like to spend around $200 (most of the 5830's on Newegg after MIR). My PC will mostly be geared towards gaming. Overclocking is a maybe at this point. I know Tom's Hardware guide says the 5830 for this price point, but Anandtech had some contradictory information. I was wondering if I'm better off going with a GTX 260 or a 5770. So far I think this will be my build:
Intel Core i5-750

For $200 the HD5830 is worth it.

Yeah right now I'm leaning toward 1920 x 1080. What would you suggest for games? Any specific products?

I was mostly wondering what resolution to play games in/ what monitor size. I think I'm gona go with the ASUS VH236H 23" so 1920 x 1080. I wanna play Crysis, Far Cry 2, pretty much the usual latest and greatest.
