$800-900 AMD Gaming Build

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: 7/30-31/10

BUDGET RANGE: $800-$900

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming/ Quickbooks pro/MS Excel,Word/Basic web

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: newegg.com

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: (USA)

PARTS PREFERENCES: AMD CPU

OVERCLOCKING: Not right away. Perhaps Later.

SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Maybe Later

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1680x1050 - Will be upgrading within the next 3-6 months.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: This is my first PC build (Yikes), but its a project me and my son want to tackle together.

I play Starcraft 2, WoW, Team Fortress 2, Half-life 2, COD MW:2. Big fan of Blizzard and Valve titles. No Crysis or really demanding games. I do a lot of work on QuickBooks pro, MS Excel, and Word at the office and take my work home with me sometimes.

Right now, Looking at the following:

This comes out to be around $840.. without software. I feel like the 5830 will be plenty for the games we play. Currently running a nvidia 9600GT in a q6600 gateway fx its working pretty well, but need another computer.

Thanks in advance

If you use a GTX 460 don't get a xfire board. AMD chipsets do not support SLI. There are certain 3rd party mobo's using an old Nvidia chipset that do can SLI, but they aren't' officially supported either.
  2. You definately should be buying a GTX460 1gb (same prices at 5830 but smokes it in every game)

    ^^^agree with zooted
  3. Thanks for the replies. Yea, i need an optical drive, but didnt list it because a basic one will do just fine.

Will take a closer look at the GTX 460.

    Thanks

  5. Just wanted to update. This was my final order. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE HELP! Ended up picking up another monitor. Looking back, the only thing I would have changed was maybe the power supply could have been bigger.. but i will not be doing any SLI (Obviously).
