Optical (DVD) drive not reconized after Win-7 Upgrade

Hello,
After I upgraded to Win-7 from Vista, my DVD drive is gone. (GSA-T20L) It does not show up under "My Computer" or "Device Manager". I can take it out and put it in an external USB case and it works fine. I've tried locating drivers without any luck, if that would even help ?? Microsoft has a HOTFIX article and patch, but upon trying it, it stated my drive is not covered. HELP...HELP.... I don't have much hair left ..LOL
