I got the matrix rog 5870
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121382&Tpk=5870%20matrix

It is powerered by two 8 pin 6pci-e connectors

my power supply a

650w antec
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371015&cm_re=650_antec-_-17-371-015-_-Product
only has one 6+2 pci and the other is a 6pin pci e so I got a 6pin to 6+2 adapter

It's not holding a easy overclock for crap do you guys think it could be because the adapter, I called tech support and they are leaning towards the psu or the motherboard.

btw my motherboard is a
biostar 790gx a3+
http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/t-series/introduction.php?S_ID=395
it has it setup to where you need to plug in a molex next to the motherboard to give the 3d card more power or whatever if you look in the manual.. never seen that on a motherboard before

anyways i figured if im gonna upgrade i might as well get a 850w so later on down the road I can throw another 5870 in there when I get more money and a different motherboard.

im thinking about either a

corsair modular anybody have any suggestions or any reasons why they would be against this one?
I like it because it has 6 6+2 pci e connectors so later on I dont really have to worry about any upgrades even if I get a trichannel lol..
But im wondering how much bigger of a psu is this then my earthwatts 650 because my antec 300 isn't exactly the biggest case
