GTA iv problem

Last response: in Graphics & Displays
Share

I have always been able to play GTA iv on my rig with all settings at high, but ever since I got new drivers I have been getting the following error.

Warning: your graphics settings are near, or exceed the suggested resource limit for your system,it is recommended that you reduce your graphics settings in order to play the game optimally.

But it still says that there is 4GB of Vram available, and it won't let me turn the settings or the resolution up

What can I do?

I hate the way drivers work too mate most of the time the fix one thing and break another, i wish it was simple when they just made everything work as it should, most cards are always held back my stupid drivers.

If it still works good without the new drivers, restore the older ones and reinstall the new
ones. so, after all you may play the game like before, until somebody knows the problem.

oh and did you install the newest patch for gta iv?
it has some fixes and reduces the needed gddr, too. ;)

yeah I have all the patches for GTA IV, but as moxeus previously stated I think the drivers might be the one that's causing the trouble. because it has always worked fine before, anyways.... I can't really try to figure out what the problem is because I'm at school right now but I'll try it as soon as I get home

well, I've rolled back the driver to version 10.3 (the version I had when the game was working fine) I've even re-installed the entire game and cleared the registry. and well.... Still the same old error. It just will not allow me to change any of the settings in the menu, I've tried other games and they seem to work just fine.

I'll just post a screenshot below.

Note; this was not taken on my PC, because whenever I make a screenie in GTA IV it just turns out all black, but it's still the same error message, only difference is that my settings are stuck at low, and so is the resolution.
