Just got my new rig and installed L4D2. Perma fps with everything maxed in settings, then after about 30 mins of playtime. I stopped, took a break and checked temps:

I don't think that's normal... is it? Everything else usually runs cool at idle ( http://img801.imageshack.us/img801/5704/temps.gif )

I'm still using the stock intel fan, is it that bad? or is this because of Turbo mode? I tried to fraps in game for a few minutes to see what my fps would be like, related or no? I don't know why the temps were so high.

I don't think you have anything to worry about with those temps. Also remember temperatures will vary from person to person, because of ambient temperatures in the room where the computer is. Load temperatures are really what matter, provided the idle temps aren't out of control. Do some prime testing and re post the results with the CPU under 100% load.

Right now:

As you can see, it was pretty much always ~97c throughout the entire testing. I stopped it after 32 mins.
Room temp is about 21c, doesn't feel hot at all in here, it's rather cold imo. As you can see the rest of the pc is doing well.
About the stock cooler installation, well... it doesn't move, it seems to be in place just fine so I don't know what could be wrong. How to determinate if it's not properly installed?

99c damn, did the pc restart when you reached that? It's a pain in the ass, but when I have installed the stock coolers, I would do it out of the case so I can see the back of the motherboard. This way you can actually see the plastic fasteners and determine whether or not the heatsink is attached correctly. What fan header did you plug the fan into? No way you should be reaching anywhere near 99c. You should be at least 20c colder than that under load, at stock speed and voltage.

I did it outside of the case too, and no, no restarts. I looked behind as well to see if it was properly attached and I think it is, when I tried to move the cooler with my hand to see if it moves it didn't so I thought that was fine, and I plugged into CPU_FAN.

In the HWMonitor screenshot above, FANIN0 was about at 2050 RPM (as you can see 2096 is the max RPM it hit), maybe that's too low? I don't know where the problem is.

Wow I just pushed the middle of the fan with my finger into so it would get closer and temps dropped really fast.


Damn, not sure how to go on and install it properly so it would tighten down like that though..

The best way to install the heatsink would be to take the Mobo out of the case. If you are taking it out of the case, you could get better TIM like AS5 to drop temps some more. The TIM is cheap, but if you feel that the stock TIM is good enough than that works too ;)  .
Here's my temps under load with a simulated i5(stock heatsink, AS5 TIM), I didn't let it heat up all the way, but it only gets a few degrees hotter:


So with the heatsink on right, you would be getting good enough temps, this is with a 25C ambient(and a case that hasn't been cleaned out in awhile).
Also, those voltages seem very unstable, mine are rock solid at all times. Hopefully that doesn't cause any problems.

I opened the case and just slightly took the screws out and reseated them more tightly. Result:


Better/normal? I noticed my idle slightly went down as well, around - 5c.

Not sure now about the voltages what to do about that.

@ dipankar2007ind: Yes I know, but what I meant is I don't know where/how to lower them as I'm not familiar with BIOS.

@ sportsfanboy: Nah, they're about the same. They drop between 1~4c in the 60s back and forth. The first screenshot was me pressing my not properly installed cooler and the second is properly installed, turns around 63-65c.
