Hi,

Last night I had a friend over, and we were going to try to play a
Team Deathmatch against one another over my wi-fi Lan. I have 2
computers, each with their own copy of UT2K4. We have been able to
play regular DMs up to this point fine.

What I want to do is set up a game server for Lan, which will allow me
and my friend and a couple bots to take on 4 bots in a blue/red team
DM. When I set it up, as I figured it should be set up, we kept being
put on separate teams, and sometimes we had a bot, and sometimes we
didn't, making the matches unfair. I wanted to introduce my friend to
this kind of match first, before we try doing a team DE DM or Team CTF
game.

Only thing I can think of is that I don't have the right number
specified somewhere; either the total players (which would be 8) or
the number of bots (minimum = 6 ???). This won't insure my friend to
be assigned to my team when he joins my server. Does he have to his
escape, then 'join other team', or something like that?

Generally, I kick his butt all the time, so it would be fun to be on
the same side.

We also tried doing this by creating an Internet server, which we
could both log into and play ... maybe this is the way to go? I was
surprised that we could do that, given that we are both sharing a
single DSL IP via the wi-fi router.

Appreciate any helpful suggestions.
TIA

If you have 'bots balance teams' checked, your friend should just have
to hit Escape for the menu while in-game, and select 'Switch Teams'.

Yeah .. we worked that part out, and it seems to work okay. I just
thought that after he initially joined my team, that, as additional
games were spawned, he'd automatically be put on my team. That didn't
happen. Every time a new game started (new map), he had to his escape
and 'switch teams'. A bit of a pain, but I guess it'll have to do.
Once he gets the idea of team deathmatch, I'd like to try team DE
deathmatch, then CTF. I assume that he'll have to do the same thing
in those versions in order to be on my team.

Thanks
