I have a BFG graphics card with DVI and VGA outputs. I have a monitor with HDMI and VGA inputs. What would happen, if I used a HDMI to DVI cable along with the VGA cable? Would it be overkill or work at all or scramble something? I would like to know if it's worth trying. Oh and most importantly, would it have the potrntial to fry anything?
Thanks

You can only select one input to the monitor at any one time.

Why not simply use the better one all the time?

"You can only select one input to the monitor at any one time."

^^ This

And yeah just use the better connection, in this case, the DVI. (So the hdmi to dvi converter would be necessary, or you can just buy a DVI cable from a local retailer or online for a lot cheaper at amazon.com)

I now have a HDMI to DVI cable hooked up, but can't tell a difference in the picture, the monitor is set for HDMI. I thought I could get away without the converter, any thoughts?
