Tri monitors

Can a 9800GT with one HDMI, VGA and DVI output (so three outputs) drive a display on each output, simultaneously? Or is it limited to only using two at a time?

The 9800 GT is only capable of supporting two monitors at one time. If you want 3 monitors at once, you'll have to go SLi or use a different video card that can.
