I have a ton of parts lying around and I want to make the best computer with them I can. I have an Athlon XP 2600+ (Thoroughbread) and a Pentium 4 2.6Ghz with a mobo for each. I like to game (Left 4 Dead, etc). Both boards have an AGP slot that I have an Nvidia 7600GS for.

So, should I swap out mobo/processors? or should I stick with my Athlon XP (which I've got running pretty stable at 2.25Ghz)? Thanks.

Hmm at that slight OC they are even but you would run into real issues some games on any single core really....

Even with the P4's 512 L2 cache? The 2600+ only has a 256. I would probably OC the P4 a little as well.

But what you're saying is that its not going to make enough of a difference to really be worth it? I'd rather not tear my computer apart if I can avoid it.
