secondary ide configeration problem

i can't change the second dvd drives transfer mode from PIO to DMA.
Even on reinstallation, the problem still occures Someone suggested
using a seperate IDE card ? The second drive is used soley to read
dvd-ram discs

Current Transfer Mode: pio mode (greyed out – no choice)

Colin, try this
If your device sends more than 6 errors, Windows XP will
disable the DMA and you can't disable it till you install a new windows!.
But here is a solution: Uninstall your device (Secondary IDE Channel) and
then refresh your settings, after that Windows will find the device again
and install the drivers. After that you can change the DMA setting as you
wish! THAT's it!!!
