Hey guys first off i will list my specs:

AMD Athlon X2 240 stock
Biostar Mcp6p (crappy mobo)
wintec 2gb ddr2 single stick
Okia 550watt generic power supply
Acer 21.5inch 1920x1080 monitor
Old HP a1000n matx case

Ok so i have $340 total including shipping to upgrade my pc... so heres what i chose off newegg

NZXT M59 case with free 480w psu
Some wireless network stuff i need
Some cheap usb headset for teamspeak
totals at $135 w/ship

so that leaves me with around $200 which i need to spend on graphics.... Should I get a 5770 and another 2gb stick or just the 5830 either totaling at $200? If i get 5830 it will be bottelnecked by the stock x2 240 and the single stick of 2gb but if i get the 5770 i will not be able to game at 1680x1050 or 1920x1080.... So im stuck since my next upgrad will be on december.
So i will game intensly and i dont think the 5770 will cut it for maxing games out at resolution at or higher than 1680x1050. my purchase date is around july 20 do u guys think the driver issue will be fixed with the 5830?

btw im going to be using dual psus the 550w and the 480w which will be more than enough...

last question, will the 5830 fit in a nzxt m59?

p.s. they did release a new driver for the 5830 but just making sure... btw im highly inclined to buying the 5830, i really like it and it looks like i will be able to play most games maxed at 1920x1080...

also my motherboard has issues overclocking and if i were to buy the 5770 and the extra 2gb ram i would also buy a beter motherboard so in the conclusion heres what will be the buy:

5770
4gb ddr2
x2 240 @ 3.8ghz

or

5830
2gb ddr2
x2 240 @2.8ghz

as i said before im probably going to buy the 5830 but the overclock and the extra ram just makes the 5770 system seem like a real good deal too...

thanks ;)

Solution
I use a 5770, and i play most games max'd @ 1920x1080. But I'm also using ddr3 memory with 965 BE, to compliment the video card. But future Proofing is a necessity, and the 5830 would give you a bit more leeway. So i would suggest the 5830 for now, until you upgrade your mobo.

Wait for the GTX 460, it should be priced around 230.00$ and rumors say it can match a 5850 when overclocked. It should be out around mid July..

Its smaller than the 5830 also:

first off i want to say i have never used ati except in 2004, which was a very long time ago and i started building in 2002 so i have been using nvidia since then...

hey man look, before the gtx 465 came out i was waiting very patiently for nvidia to release their $250-$150 cards.... then they came out with the gtx 465 which disappointent me just a bit... i did say i was going to buy around july 20 so i guess i will have to see when nvidia release their lower cards....

thanks guys

lol that could explian why you are getting such nice results..... ok if nvidia does not release gtx460 or gts450 by July 20, then i will buy the 5830 and later on get more ram, a new mobo, and if im very very lucky another 5830 for crossfire! :kaola:

thanks

Listen your AMD X2 240 will barely be able to keep up with a ATI 5770. Hence, 5830 is also not a good option for your CPU and DDR2 ram. I suggest get at leat AMD X3 720 BE at $104/ Intel Core i3-530 at $115 so that your games are not bottlenecked by your CPU..Best of Luck!!
