I built my system back in December and since about March I have been having some strange issues. At this point I am practically desperate. The issue is that whenever i put the system under a heavy load (video rendering for example) it freezes. Right after I assembled the system I ran prime95 and there were no problems, but now the system freezes while I am running it. I have already RMAd the motherboard, graphics card, CPU, and power supply in looking for a solution. I also tested the RAM with memtest86+. I am stumped at this point. The only feasible path of action I see is to reformat the hard drive, but I am doubting that this will work. Any ideas anyone?
Asus M4a79T Deluxe motherboard
AMD Phenom II 965 BE (3.4 GHZ)
Mushkin 996657 2x2GB RAM
XFX HD 4890 GPU
Corsair 650hx PSU
WD Caviar Black 500GB 7200 rpm HDD
how long did you memtest for?
using a digital multimeter, check the 12v and 5v on the psu on a molex connector.
undo the OC before you try to troubleshoot anything else.
how long before prime95 crashes?
what happens when you run furmark on the gfx card?
Thanks for the reply. I ran memtest for 9 hours. I don't have a multimeter, so I think I'm gonna have to get back to you on that. I have not over clocked anything. Prime95 crashes in 1-2 mins of being started. I ran 3dmark06 right after building the system when there were no problems and it was fine, but I just started running it again and so far so good.
