Review CPU specification for gaming

Hello,

Please review specification of my existing old CPU. And let me know weather it is enough for Games.
I am planning to add GeoForce 9800GT to this box

- Motherboard - Intel DG31PR
- Core 2 DUO E4500 processor
- Transcand 800 MHZ 2GB DDR2
- 400 watts Iball PSU

It should run fine, although your E4500 could use an upgrade, perhaps an E7500 or Q8400? You will probably need to flash your motherboard's BIOS.

Yes. Preferably an upgrade to a E7600 or higher-clocked dual-core if you don't know how to overclock.

I don't know how to overclock, and I don't think I will ever do that with my MOBO.
is it absolutely required for gaming?

your mobo wont allow overclocking...

If you want to do more things at once get the quad. If you want to game and do nothing more wile gaming get the dual core.
A quad gives you more power(wide shoulders) and a dual core (that one) gives you better speed but not by much.

Flashing your bios is recommended.

At what resolution do you intend to play games?
