Ever bought a faulty GPU?

If so, what were the symptoms?
I'm just asking mostly out of curiosity, since I'm relatively new to the whole high end GPU market.

Heh, yep!

You'll get stuff ranging from the minor problems:
- Non-standard performance
- Fan Noise is too high

To mid level problems
- Random crashing
- Overheating
- Artifacting

To plain 'ol bad
- Doesn't turn on
- Capacitors explode (yes that happened to me 0_o)

I bought a 4850x2 awhile back and for the life of me, I couldn't get my PC to boot, so I tried a Windows repair and a whole new install to no avail. Not sure if it was something with my MOBO, but newegg took it back and said it was faulty. Who knows though.
