I recently purchased the G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) ram and now i see there is another kit of G.SKILL Sniper 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) ram on sale for around $75 I intended on maxing out my ram on my mobo which is 16gb mainly because I can and figured why not buuuut would really like to know if those 2 kits would be compatible? Also is there really any benefit to having 16gb of ram? I know it is A LOT of ram but would it be necessary in any circumstance gaming wise? I do multi task a lot (browse the net play music off of my hd, sometimes stream music while playing games) I also sometimes when playing games in window mode will open up word, powerpoint and excel while doing all of those things haha so would 8gb be enough? and which of the 2 kits would be the better kit? also my mobo is a GIGABYTE AMD 790XTA-UD4

ehhh. for gaming the extra RAM isn't so important. the 16GB will really be useful in memory intensive multitasking such as photo editing while having other programs open or video editing. If you have the money for it, then it could only benefit you, but for what your needs seem to be i think you'll be fine with 8GB.
