Hi
I have an old Toshiba Satellite 2590 which uses PC66 memory SODIMM.
Is it possible for me to use PC100 or PC133 SODIMMs instead? What are
the implications? Thanks in advance for your help.

Sorry to see no replies.......don't know if it is of any use, but I know
from experience thet you can use PC100 in place of PC66 in some desktop
machines, but don't know if you can do the same in laptops. Only way to know
for sure I *guess* is to try it, so long as you feel happy with the idea
that is!

Regards
Steve

You are correct, the only way to be sure is to try it. The issue is
that there are different chip architectures, some of which will work,
others of which won't. For example, it's possible to make a 128 meg
module from (for example) four 32 meg chips, or, today, one 128 meg
chip, but the addressing architecture of the newer, larger chips is
incompatible with the older chipsets used in older machines. So some
modules work, other modules, of the same module size (and, potentially,
speed rating) won't.
