P35 with 5770?

So I am looking to get a 5770 but from my understanding it seems to have issues with a lot of boards. Does anyone have any experience using it on a P35 and even better a MSI P35 Platinum?

How do I know if it is a 2.0 or a 2.1?

It seems like they are almost all 2.0 yet many people have had issues with these cards. Have you had any experience using these cards on a 1.1 interface?

EDIT: I just won't want to buy a card and then have it sit there because it is incompatible with my current setup
