How can we add USB among first boot device priority

Hello,
I am trying to install Ubuntu through USB. First I have to make my first boot device USB. I cant find USB in the list of boot device in the boot menu of BIOS. How can I add it there

Insert the USB drive into a USB socket before you power-on. Then when you enter the BIOS, it should show and allow you set it to the 1st boot device.

thank you very much. when my cd-rom drive died, i replaced it with a dvd drive. my ancient amd no-name computer won't boot from it. took me awhile to discover which key to hold down (f9 for me) on reboot.
