So I have a Sapphire Vapor-x 5770 and I'm just wondering what is a safe margin for it to run at. The GPU idles from anywhere to 35-42 centigrade but when playing games it skyrockets up to around 60 centigrade, is this a safe temp for it to be at? Since I'm gaming it will be at this temperature and possibly higher for some time.

GPU's handle much higher temperatures than your CPU can handle.

Generally @ Load a GPU can run anywhere from 60C to 75C and be perfectly fine. Higher than that and it probably doesn't have the most adequate cooling/ventilation. (Although I've heard of 80's with some hot cards, i.e. GTX 480)

With a CPU however, most of them should NEVER be operated @ or above 70-72C.

Different components handle different temperatures. CPUs you want very cool. GPU's can handle quite a bit. Your temps are perfectly fine.

my asus cucore 5770 gets to 98ºC after 11mn's using OCCT stress test, with vcore reduced from 1.2 to 1.087, stock speed...

Before I start using IC diamond, when playing COD.MWF 2 it used to reach 92.5ºC, now it goes up to 80ºC. So 60ºC is more than perfect.

btw, how do you check your temps bnot? Make sure you use a program that tells you the highest temp even at idle.
