device manager in windows 7 says all USB are working. i even tried disabling them and restarting.

it is not the USB device because i can see it on my other computer.

i cloned my old hard drive from a lenovo T61 and everything else is working fine. it shows the C and D (dvd) but no USB's. i'm trying to back up data to a ssd device that should show up as drive "J".

the laptop does make that sound like something got connected, and the main USB light on the device comes on.

also i thought it was something about that 'magician' so i tried it, it showed the samsung is not supported. no clue here.
