my parts: CORSAIR DOMINATOR-GT 6GB DDR3 1600, Intel Core i7-930 4.0 GHz, EVGA 3-Way SLI LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard.

The fastest configuration would be GTX 470 SLI, followed by HD 5970 then GTX 480. In terms of raw performance, I'd go for GTX 470 SLI, if I were concerned with power or heat issues, the HD 5970 instead.

I agree with the GTX 470 SLI. It is definitely faster than a GTX 480, and faster than the HD 5970 at similar price.

At 86c the 5970 isn't exactly an AC unit and in SLi the GTX470 seems to run cooler than that hot old ATi brick depending on which sites graphs are looked at. :kaola:

I'm sorry but every time I see the 5970 being recommended because it runs cooler than any of the Nvidia 4xx card(s) I can't help but think of this :-
