A look at some X79 boards

To start off, here are some boards using the upcoming Intel X79 chipset.

Now all we need are some affordable, high performance LGA2011 CPU's.

Hmmm ... I thought I was all decided on the ASRock X79 Extreme4, but I might have to take a serious look at this Foxconn board instead...

The board incorporates 2 sockets 1366 and 2011. Users can first use their socket 1366 CPU and later on
pop in a Sandy Bridge-E.

Wow. What an unnecessary board.

Way too complex, and too much can go wrong with it. Requiring a special case makes it even more stupid. I hope they don't actually produce it. I mean, if you're going to buy a new board for the new processor anyway, why buy an expensive transition board? Stupid.

I do think it's funny that it has "God Bless Japan" printed on it, so ASUS gets one point for making me laugh.

It's said, you can first use your socket 1366 and when 2011 arrives, you can combine both. Still, you have to give Asus points for doing something different.
